What Are You up To?

Me? Oh, not much, just my normal, healthy coping mechanism of avoiding some minor task because I’m scared I won’t be able to do it well or complete it in time and I’ll fail everyone because I’m an awful person and then I avoid thinking about it because I feel guilty for avoiding it and that makes me even more terrified of doing it and then I avoid talking about it and put off the people who need me to get it done because I’m avoiding thinking about it and that makes me afraid of them and then I end up in a depression spiral because I’ve failed everyone and I’m an awful person and then the depression makes everything worse.

How about you?

Office Problems, pt. II

Every office building should have a cozy, dimly-lit room with couches and a couple desks where you (1) aren’t allowed to make noise, and (2) are allowed to take a nap.

You think I’m joking, but no–it would be for accessibility! There are lots of flavors of neurospicy other than mine that need some peace and quiet sometimes, and there are also times when the best thing you can do for your productivity is…take a nap. Rest isn’t a sign of laziness! Also, you don’t keep lazy people from avoiding work just by banning lazy-seeming behavior! Productivity should be measured by (gasp) how much work you actually get done, not how much time you spend looking busy!

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
